Israel Gaza war In DETAILS
Just under 1,200 human lives were lost, while the Israeli military claimed that more than 200 soldiers had been hostages with women, children and the civilians taken to the Gaza area.
Presently, the Israeli army militarily hits back almost 14,000 Palestinian people in Gaza with air and artillery strikes and it is the statement of the Gaza based Health Ministry.
What was Israel before 1948?
Britain conquered the region referred to as Palestine by virtue of the great powers’ arrangements, which forced the Ottoman Empire, which ruled that place of the Middle East, to abdicate from the war in the aftermath of the War One.
The place where they call their land and they are all three minorities, Arab majority, and other, smaller, ethnic groups.
The conflicts between the two groups grew when the International Council provided the UK the job of establishing a Jewish settlement in Palestine.
This arose from the Balfour Declaration of 1917 made by then Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour in which he gave his word to the British Jews’ question of Jews and support for national homeland set apart for the Jews.
The declaration was incorporated into the article governance of British mandate over Palestine which was later endorsed by the League of Nations – the example of today’s UN – in 1922.
Although Palestine was supposed to be the ethnic home of Jews, the local Arab people also regarded it as their own territory and started to object to it.
Between 20s and 40s the numbers of Jews willing to flee to Mexico was vastly increased and they found protection there from persecution, especially Nazi Holocaust; it being terrible time during the World War Two.
This also the period of escalating Arabs and Jews violence as well, which sometimes reached the British rule.
In ’47 voting, UN has decided on partitioning of Palestine into two different areas- the Jewish and Arab states with international city of Jerusalem.
Such a plan was approved by Jewish leadership, however Arab world did not support it and henceforth it was never enacted.
How and why was Israel created?
Finally, British leaders abrogated their responsibilities when in 1948 the problem remained unresolved, and Jewish leaders announced the birth of the State of Israel.
It is its purpose has been to serve as a haven for the Jews as well as, it is the national homeland for the Jews.
The unrelenting battles between militants of the Jews and Arabs had been escalating for months, and on the very next day after the proclamation of the State of Israel, some neighboring countries launched their assault.
The exodus of thousands of Palestinian people, some who fled and others who were forced to leave in naming operations “Al-Nakba”- the catastrophe, began in the same year and as a result of the same conflict.
At the end of hostilities, Israel effectively controlled all of the seized areas after the ceasefire was announced in October 1973.
Following the Six-Day War, the Jordanians annexed the lands that the West Bank was referred to and the Egyptians took the land of Gaza.
Jerusalem city was divided into the western part, which was occupied by the Israeli army and Jordanian forces occupied the eastern half.
Although there was no peace treaty there were still wars and the digression of order and stability in the years following.
The map of Israel THAT TRIGGERERED Israel Gaza war
In 1967 war Israeli forces took over by force East Jerusalem and the West Bank, also most of the Syrian Golan Heights, Gaza, and the Sinai Peninsula belonging to Egypt.
Such Palestinian refugees and their descendants have mostly concentrated in Gaza and the West Bank Eastern Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
Therefore, neither they nor their offspring has been allowed by Israel to go back to their villages – Israel asserts that this would cause an inundation of settlers and a threat to the country’s risks as a Jewish State.
Israel persists in the occupation of the West Bank by its claim on the whole of Jerusalem as its capital, while the Palestinians aspire to set as the seat of government a hoped-for future Palestinian state East Jerusalem. The US is one of a few countries worldwide (except for Israel and its allies) that recognize Jerusalem as the official capital city of Israel.
Israel has been building settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the last 50 years and a half earlier, where currently more than 700,000 Jews live there.
The settlements in the illegality under international law are reserved, as per the UN Security Council and the UK government, but are denied by the modern-day nation of Israel.
What is the Gaza Strip?
Gaza constitutes a narrow strip of land that has been subjected to a vice-like pressure, being bent between the Mediterranean Sea and Israel from the north, and Egypt from the south.
Anyway, it is only 41km long and 10km wide; but it is home to more than two million persons and is one of the most highly populated areas on earth.
The so-called War of Independence, which ended in 1948-49 did not go in Israel’s favor since it was occupied by Egypt for 19 years.
In the 1967 war, Israel occupied Gaza and according to the records, stayed until 2005. The period saw the construction of Jewish settlements.
In the end, Israel’s Gaza evacuation plan was implemented in 2005, however, the occupation continued, but it was different. Israel was still in control of the airspace, the shared border, and the shoreline. The UN remains a counterpart that does not expect any withdrawal of the Israeli military from Gaza.
Where is the Gaza Strip?
What are the main problems between Israelis and Palestinians?
Regarding matters where the two parties cannot reach a compromise, there are a number of them.
These include:
• The dilemma of the Palestinians’ refugee status begs the question as to what should be done about it.
• Whether Jewish settlements can stay in the West Bank under the Israeli occupation or they should be removed is the issue under discussion.
• Whether the city part should be split between both or just belong to only one, however not both.
• And in fact – if the most difficult of the conditions is the one: a Palestinian state alongside Israel or not
What efforts have been made to resolve these problems?
Talks on an Israel-Palestinian peace have taken place throughout the 1990s to 2010s, joined in times of calm by intermittent violence.
Peace arrangement via negotiation did appear plausible, even in the optimism of the early days. A series of previously unannounced parleys in Norway discerns the famous Oslo peace process, which is celebrated by a widely famous event hosted on the White House’s lawn by President William J. Clinton.
In an unprecedented turn of events, the Palestinians agreed to accept the state of Israel, and Israel, in turn, officially recognized the organization that symbolized its bitterest historic enemy, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), as the only people’s representative of Palestine. A Palestinian Authority that was self-gone-bad was made.
There were, however, a few cracks found as the former opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu called the Oslo agreement a direct and fatal risk to Israel. Tel Aviv expedited its plan of Jews settling in the captured Arab territories. Having gained the strength of the politically immature Palestinian militant organization Hamas, Hamas has used people as physical tools to die in Israel and destroy the opportunity for the Israelis and the Palestinians to secure a peace settlement.
Israel has gone through an intense atmosphere of hostility that eventually led to Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s murder by a Jewish zeal on 4 November 1995.
In the 2000s, several efforts were made to revive the peace process which was included in the roadmap in 2003 whereby the concerned world powers drew it with two-state solutions in compliance but it was never implemented.
The peace process has been struggling to find a way through since 2014, and there was no agreement between the Israeli and Palestinian sides when they were in Washington.
The year’s most recent peace plan that was worked out when the USA had Donald Trump as president, Netanyahu said it is “the deal of the century”, but many Palestinians say it is biased and did not start.
Why are Israel and Gaza at war now?
We must be realistic in this regard; if a Hamas-rule Gaza is what the voters have decided upon, then Gaza is what they deserve. Additionally, according to the UK and many of the world powers, Hamas is a terrorist group that wants to destroy Israel.
In the elections in Palestine that were held in 2006, Hamas was the winner. They overtook the Fatah-run Palestine Authority of the West Bank, making Mahmoud Abbas, the president of Palestine, their rival party.
After that, militants in Gaza have shot several wars with Israel. Each country following Israel and Egypt blockades the strip to isolate Hamas and try to stop such attacks, like the firing of rockets toward Israeli cities.
Palestinians now feel that the Israeli army is punishing their whole nation through its checkpoints and its air strikes in crowded spots.
Statistically, 2021 was also the worst one in terms of the death toll for Palestinians in the territory of the West Bank and in East Jerusalem which were seized by Israel. Furthermore, they claim the same restrictions and military tactics as those implemented in the occupied territories are used here in response to the terrorist attacks that kill Israelis.
The pushing for sovereignty may have been one of the reasons why Hamas has committed the latest attack now.
The militants could also have been about making their voices heard among the general masses and enhancing their doubts about some of the ugly terrorizing events, including the usage of hostages, for instance, to put pressure on Israel to free some of the estimated 4,500 Palestinians held in their prisons
Who supports Israel in the current conflict, and who does not?
The United States, the European Union, and those other West Vector countries also didn’t keep away from condemning the Hamas attack on Israel.
So far, the most substantial and direct ally of Israel, the US, has given over $260 billion to the Jewish state. This assistance is both financial and military aid. Moreover, the US has also promised more weapons, air defense missiles, guided bombs, and ammunition in support as a strategic partner.
The operation also has aircraft carrier strike groups sent to eastern Mediterranean in an attempt to vanquish Israel’s enemies in particular Hezbollah, a movement in Lebanon, which is running the second front in war.
Russia and China as well are keeping low tones and not blaming one party for it but holding connections with both sides of the conflict just as they have done in the past. The Russian head of state, Vladimir Putin, has drawn a connection between the Middle east instability and the lack of an American peace policy.
Iran, Israel’s My Evils’s. staunch sponsor, leads the ranking of Hamas’s backers as well as Hezbollah whose members incinerate the Israeli troops regularly in the counter-salvoes since Hamas’s strike.
Whether this makes the state of Iran responsible for the Hamas’ attack? Thus, it said giving green light early before. Tehran, on other hand, has not openly admitted or convicted about the association with it.
